Our recommendations for buying your musical instrument.

Rental:

Rental/installment programs are a great way to approach the more expensive instruments when beginning. 20 years in business, Educational Music Services on Mount Joy Square offer a great “try before you buy” service for the following;

  • Flutes/Piccolos

  • Clarinets

  • Saxophones

  • Oboes

  • Bassoons

  • Trumpets

  • Cornets

  • French Horns

  • Trombones

  • Euphonium/Tubas

The rates are very reasonable.

Violins:

Crehans in Drumcondra. Use others at your own risk. A strong recommendation from our director Rebecca, herself a violist.

Pianos:

Pianos are a costly investment… That said digital pianos are a fantastic alternative to the real thing if you're fretting about footing a costly bill (I have one myself)

Whatever piano style you're shopping for, we'd wholeheartedly endorse the Monaghan Piano Centre. We've used them exclusively for many years at the School of Music in Dundrum and have nothing but praise for their services.

Brick and mortar:

McCullough Pigott offering Instruments and sheet music. Saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, guitar, digital pianos, banjo, mandolin, violin, cello and more.

Online:

The Amazon of music, Thomann are a giant enterprise shipping everything musical from Germany.

They have everything you could need… except you can't try before you buy. Be sure to do your research before ordering.

I hope the above is helpful but please call if you're lost and need some advice.
